Collected bills include three receipts from John Thoreau (father of Henry), one to N. Brooks for payment for 3 reams of paper (1827 Feb. 6), one for payment relating to insurance policies (1839 Oct. 7), one for payment by N. Brooks to Concord Fire Society (1841 Dec. 31); two receipts from Henry D. Thoreau to N. Brooks for payment for instruction of son George Brooks. (Cont.) and of Samuel Burr (1838 Sept. and Nov.) and one receipt from Henry D. Thoreau to the Misses Hosmer for surveying a woodlot (1845 Dec. 18); three receipts from John Thoreau (brother of Henry) to N. Brooks for instruction of George and of Samuel Burr (1839 May 31, Aug. 30, and Dec. 14); and one receipt from C.D. Thoreau (Henry's mother) for H.D. Thoreau to N. Brooks for payment for instruction of George and of Samuel Burr and for "squares of glass set" (1839 Feb. 29).
